June Palmer 1924-2010
June Palmer of Greenville, RI, died January 9, 2010, she was born June 24, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Douglas and Blanche Carnegie. She was raised in the Duncan Hills section of Staten Island, attended Pace Institute of Manhattan and Fordham University. She had worked as a payroll clerk in the New York Stock Exchange. Moving to Closter, New Jersey in 1949 and lived there for 30 years raising a family and working for Saladino’s Clothing Store and Westwood Laundry & Cleaners. She later was employed with New Jersey Bell, Teaneck New Jersey in the accounting department. In 1978 she moved to Clearwater Village in Spotswood, New Jersey and was transferred to the Cranford office of New Jersey Bell (Verzion) until her retirement in 1989. She spent her retirement traveling, working in her gardens, bowling and doing volunteer work at local church and community organizations.
She is survived by her three daughters, Janet (Palmer) and husband John Hallbergh of East Killingly, CT, Judy (Palmer) and husband Thomas Berry of Thorndike, ME and Jayne (Palmer) and husband Anthony Lubrano of Villa Rica, GA. Also four grandchildren: Amanda, Dawn, Jared and Michelle, two great grandsons Ethan and Reed, her brother Douglas Carnegie of Staten Island, NY, former spouse and friend James Palmer, several nieces and cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 9, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church Staten Island, NY followed by burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. Donations can be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI. To share a memory “Light a Candle” www.gagnonandcostellofh.com
