Obituary of John S. Horne

John S. Horne, 67, of Laurel Drive, Dayville died unexpectedly Thursday, February 4, 2010 at home. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Conrad) Horne. He was born May 20, 1942 in Youngstown, OH, son of the late William F. and Helen (Simon) Horne. John was a retired Attorney with Wheaton, Boyd and Horne in Putnam. He was a retired captain in the US Army and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He had made his home in Killingly for over 30 years, a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Dayville. He served on the Board of Directors of the Williamsville Fire Department, a member of the Killingly Democratic Town Committee and a member of the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. John was a member of the Bar Association in Connecticut and Illinois. He was active for many years with the Danielson Little League. For the last five years John has been the Site Manager at the Little River Acres in Putnam. He leaves his wife of 40 years, Joyce; his children: Jennifer Schwartz and her husband Albert of Stony Point, NY; John Horne, Jr. of Mansfield, MA; James Horne and his wife Erin of Milton, MA; grandchildren: Avery, AJ, Evan; a brother: William Horne, Sr. of Naperville, IL and a niece and a nephew. The Funeral will be Monday, February 8, 2010 at 9:30 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville with Military Honors. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, MA.
