Obituary of Frank A. Gill

Brooklyn - Frank A. Gill, also lovingly known as Butch, Dad and Grandpa, died at UMass Medical Center on February 14, 2010 of complications from a sudden heart attack. Frank was born on July 17, 1940, the son of Dorothy Brooks Gill and the late Woodrow Irwin Gill. Frank graduated from the Colorado School of Mines, and worked for many years as a mining engineer for Tilcon Tomasso, always providing wonderfully for his family. In addition, Frank was a member of the board of directors for his family's company, Gill Rock Drill in Lebanon, PA. While work was important to him, Frank's passions in life were his family, friends, woodworking, bicycling, sports, nature and animals, especially dogs. He dearly loved his family, especially his wife of 47 years, his high school sweetheart, Joan Fiondella Gill, his 3 children and 7 grandchildren. He cherished time with family, especially every moment spent with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his son David and wife Kara of Sutton, MA, daughter Susan Fisher and husband James of Glastonbury, CT, and daughter Diane Vernon and husband Kevin of Pomfret, CT. Frank's 7 grandchildren were the loves of his life. They are: Anthony, Liam and Deirdre Gill, Lauren and Christopher Fisher, and Jessica and Kevin Vernon, Jr. In addition, Frank is survived by these loving family members: his mother Dorothy Brooks Gill of Palm City, FL; brother Edward Gill of Mount Gretna, PA; and two sisters Patricia Clausen of Lee's Summit, MO and Sharon Allen of Stewart, FL. The family thanks the staffs at Day Kimball Hospital and UMass Medical Center for the fine care they provided. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Northeast CT, P. O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260. Memorial services will be held at a later date. www.gagnonandcostellofh.com
