Obituary of Germaine M. Gancarz

Germaine M. Gancarz, 85, of Christian Hill Road, Brooklyn, CT, died Thursday morning, May 6, 2010 at Day Kimball Hospital after an illness. She was the beloved wife of Michael Gancarz, they were married May 1, 1948, he died October 20, 2006. She was born August 5, 1924 in Wauregan, daughter of the late Arthur and Celanise (Kerouack) Brodeur. She made her home in Wauregan for over fifty years. She worked as a weaver, at the Wauregan Mills, Ponemah Mills in Taftville, and at Hale Manufacturing Company in Central Village and Stafford Springs. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Wauregan. She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, caring for her yard, cutting grass and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox Baseball and the UConn Women's Basketball. Her greatest love was her family and always had time for them. She leaves her children: Earl M. Gancarz and his wife Annette of Brooklyn; Wanda A. Hicks and her husband Rodney of Pomfret, her sister: Sr. Louis Ernest Brodeur, DHS of Putnam, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by ten of her siblings. A Memorial Mass will be Wednesday May 12th at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 620 Wauregan Road, Wauregan, burial following in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
