Obituary of Helen Richmond
Helen Richmond, 79, of Dayville, formerly of Putnam died Monday, July 19, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 8, 1930 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The daughter of the late Ovid Arthur and Pauline (Kennette) Gothreau, she married T. Russell Richmond on September 25, 1946. For most of her married years she lived and worked at Ridgedale Dairy Farm in Putnam, CT. Upon retiring, she and her husband lived in Ft. Myers, FL and Brooklyn, CT. For the past six years Helen made her home with her daughter Sandra at Lake Alexander, Dayville, CT, where she discovered a love of kayaking. She was also an avid birdwatcher.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Beverly, and her husband, Russell. She leaves her daughter, Sandra Sadler of Dayville, her son John and his wife Janet of Woodstock, her grandchildren Jillian, Julia, and Joy Richmond all of Woodstock, and Russell Hall and his wife Nanci of Thompson. She was very proud of her four grandchildren and loved them dearly. In her retirement, she greatly enjoyed the company of her canine companions, Beau and Sadie.
A memorial service will be held Monday August 9, 2010 at 11:30 am at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St, Putnam, CT.
