Obituary of Shirley C. Burton

Shirley C. Burton 85, of Cooney Rd. Pomfret, passed away in to eternal life with the love of her family, Saturday July 31, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald F. Burton Sr., they were married March 4, 1946, he died July 28th 2010. She was born September 30, 1924 in Putnam, daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Logan) Thomas. She was a devoted Catholic. She attended Goodyear School and KHS class of 1942. She worked during the war as a welder in the Providence Shipyards, then worked in Willimantic at Pratt Whitney Aircraft and then at Rogers Corporation as a machine operator for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the US, she was an accomplished seamstress, an excellent homemaker, and she love being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed camping and gardening. She leaves her sons, Donald F. Burton Jr. and his wife Peggy of Pomfret Center, Terence Burton of Bedford, NH, sister Dorothy Post of East Killingly, grandchildren; Donald F. Burton III, Michael Burton, Kelly Burton LaRose, Julie Burton and Ben Burton. Her great grandchildren; Ashley Tremblay, Cheyenne Gomes, Dakota Gomes, Anthony Gomes, Logan Burton and many nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday August 4th at St. Joseph Church 350 Hartford Pike Dayville, CT. Calling Hours will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday August 3rd at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St. Danielson, CT. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Dayville, CT.
