Obituary of Claire Fortin Dexter

Brooklyn- Claire Fortin Dexter, 91 of Tripp Hollow Road, died Friday September 24, 2010 at home after a bout with cancer. She was born, July 13, 1919 in Putnam, CT, daughter of the late Nelson and Rose (Dufresne) Fortin. She retired from Idlewild Farms after 15 years of service. She was a communicant of St. James Church. She had a full life, enjoyed her trips to AZ, HI with Jeannie, cross country with Jim and Kathy, Disneyland and Disney World, TN with family; motorcycle trip to New Haven with Lenny; Sunday motorcycles trips with Don and Linda, Yankee and Red Sox game fighting over a ball with Raymond; driving Jim's car; playing scrabble with Lu, Donald introduced golf to Ma, and so many trips to visit her children and grandchildren. She loved and truly enjoyed being with all her family, playing cards and games with her family especially when she won; bantering with Don; Music Concerts; never had a camera but had lots of other family members' pictures; NY Yankees; bowling; golfing, reading, find word puzzles, and TV. She is survived by her loving children: Lucille (Barrett) Benson of New Hampshire; Raymond Dexter, Sr. of Queen Creek, AZ; Jeannie Dexter of Doyle, CA; Donald Dexter of Danielson; Linda and Don Egan whom she resided with in Brooklyn; James (Kathy) Dexter of Danielson; Lenny (Rita) Dexter of Danielson; and special daughter Marie Merrill of RI, her grandchildren of AZ; Robert Williams (Dot); Raymond Dexter, Jr. (Jeannie); Debra Dexter; Douglas Dexter (Michelle); Kathy Fitzwater (Dusty); Lynn Woods (Eric); Valerie Dexter (Tony) KY; Richard Egan, MA; Cary Egan Goodwin, NY; Jason Dexter (Kara) of Dayville; Jesse Dexter, Danielson; Tyler and Lindsey Dexter of Danielson, 25 great grandchildren: Sandra; Jordan, Michael and Luke; Lynda and Joel; Douglas (Dex) Jr., Tommy and Ritchie; Elisabeth, Raymond, Claire, and Jeremy (JJ); Ryan, Caleb (Cubby), Noah and Grace all of AZ, Cheryl and Donnie; Leah and Corey, Alyssa; Brett, Alecia and Joshua, two great great grandchildren: Juliana and Bryson, her sister-in law; Ella Fortin of Danielson and her children: Cathy, Susan, Joanne, Judy, Michael and Jeff, nieces, Madeleine of NH, Anita of Putnam and Georgette of Willimantic, nephew, Alfred of TN, and Jean Guy and all her Canadian nieces and nephews and a long time friend, Mary Grady of RI and her family. She was predeceased by her brothers, Norman, Germaine (Foxy), sisters, Lillian, Beatrice, Aline, and Yvette; daughters-in-law, Sandy A. (Raymond) and Sandy J. Dexter (Donald) and her beloved cat Fluffy. Thanks for her excellent care and friendship from Teresa Wellinghausen, Robin Grauer, Karen Sweet, Suzanne Coombs, Jean Burbank, Bill Moore and Eve Goyette who she would have been lost without their care. They best knew her as "Dr. Claire" as nicknamed by Terry. We want this to be a celebration of her life because her life was a celebration. She overcame a lot of hardship in her life and was able to do it with her carefree loving spirit. She will be surely missed by all that knew her. She had a wit of her own and loved by all that knew her. She loved the Lord and went home to be with the rest of her family. She is at peace and we will see her again. This is so long for now until we meet again with our precious Lord. We will always love and cherish you. The Funeral Service is Monday, October 4, 2010 at 10 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home 33 Reynolds St. Danielson followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson. Calling Hours are Sunday October 3, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday morning 9 to 10 AM. In lieu of flowers donation maybe made to, Special Olympics of New Hampshire c/o F.N.
