Obituary of Ella J. Hershberger

Ella J. Hershberger, 84 of Thompson, CT, died Sunday at the Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of the late OIin C. Hershberger, he died in 1992. She was born December 10, 1925 in Hampden, MA, daughter of the late Milton and Emelina (Medina) Carder. She worked for over twenty seven years as a Private Secretary at Ivanhoe Tool and Die. Ella was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in West Thompson. She was a former Thompson Library Trustee, a member of the Sacred Heart Choir, participated in many Day Kimball Hospital Follies and Thompson Minstrel shows. Ella was an avid reader, bird watcher and sports enthusiast. She leaves her sister Ida Lamb of Deltona, FL; brothers: Charles Carder of Pittsfield, MA and William Carder of Fairport, NY, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin brother Homer in 1991 and a sister Virginia Howes in 2005. A graveside service will be Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM in West Thompson Cemetery, Route 12, West Thompson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Community Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 874, North Grosvenordale CT 06255.
