Obituary of Dennis Magao, Sr.

Dayville - Dennis Magao, Sr., 92, of Dayville, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Claire (Rabideau) Magao, who died February 26, 2009. Born September 4, 1918 in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Antonio and Malvina (Souza) Magao. Dennis worked for the Mansfield State Training School for 30 years. He then became a School Bus driver for the Town of Killingly for 10 years. Dennis was a communicant of St Joseph's Church in Dayville. He enjoyed working on his property, especially his garden. Dennis and his wife Claire liked traveling to Florida for the winters, he liked the beaches. He was a WWII Veteran with the US Navy. Dennis was an avid sports fan and Red Sox fan. He is survived by his children, Dolores Messier and her husband Robert of Hebron, Gloria Hitchcock and her husband Richard of Lilburn, GA, Dennis Magao, Jr. and his wife Linda of Dayville, Claire Gidman and her husband Mark of Springfield, MO, Paul Magao and his wife Ann of Apache Junction, AZ, a sister Virginia Magao of Seminole, FL, eleven grandchildren, Michael, Tammy, David, Rebecca, Robert, Sarah, Mark, Daniel, Joseph, Jeffrey, Stephen and numerous great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Claire and a sister Lucinda Markis and her husband John. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:30 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville, CT. Calling hours will be Monday, December 13, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery with Military Honors.
