Obituary of Susan McNally Everson

Susan McNally Everson, 65, of Five Mile River Road, Putnam, CT, died peacefully Sunday, January 2, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Peter K. Everson, they were married December 23, 1967. She was born December 11, 1945 at the US Air Force Hospital in Waltham, MA, daughter of Muriel (Grosvenor) McNally and the late Russell I. McNally, of Scotland, CT. She was a graduate of Putnam High School and received her Bachelor Degree in Child Development in 1968 from the University of Connecticut. She taught school in Blytheville, AK while Peter was serving in the US Air Force. They made their home in Kalamazoo, MI from 1970 to 1974; then Williamstown, NJ from 1974 to 1994; and returned to Putnam in 1994 until the present. Over the years she worked with several child related and civic organizations. She loved to read, enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, sewing, and she especially loved making costumes and birthday cakes for her children. Susan will be remembered as a strong, capable woman, as well as a loving, nurturing home maker for her family and loved ones. She leaves her husband and lifelong partner, Peter K. Everson, her sons Benjamin R. Everson and his wife Leanne of Williamstown, NJ; Matthew K. Everson and his wife Christanne of Thorofare, NJ; her mother Muriel G. McNally and brother Craig McNally of Scotland, CT; sister Diane (Dee) Ross and husband Richard of Hampton, CT; her grandchildren Alexandra, Jordan, Brandon, Jacob and a beloved extended family. Memorial Calling Hours will be Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
