Obituary of Linda Hopkins

Linda Hopkins, 63 EASTFORD, Linda (Glass) Hopkins of Millbridge Road, Eastford Connecticut passed away on May 19, 2013 under hospice care, surrounded by her loving family, after prolonged battle with cancer. Linda was born on May 17, 1950 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts; her parents were William & Laura (Wyeth) Glass of Woodstock Connecticut. She was a graduate of Woodstock Academy class of 1968 Linda owned and operated a dairy farm in Richfield Springs, New York with her first husband Dennis Pedersen. They were once honored as farm family of the year for their use of modern farming practices. On April 7, 1990 she married Alan Hopkins of Eastford Connecticut. Together they raised and exhibited Brown Swiss dairy cows at many local fairs including the Big E. Linda has worked for the past 25 years as a dental assistant and receptionist for area dentists and oral surgeons, including Dr. William Massopust and Dr. Donald Grippo. Linda was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, CT. Her passions were flowers, gardening, rescuing animals, her children and precious grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her compassion for others, she always went out of her way to help someone in need. She was an avid Nascar fan and Jimmy Johnson was her favorite driver. She leaves a husband Alan Hopkins and two sons, Michael Pedersen and his wife Jennifer of Eastford and their two children Andrew and Jacob; Kristopher Pedersen and his wife Kristin of Rogers and children Colby, Braden, Dylan and Emily. She also leaves three sisters Holly Peck, Debbi Farquhar and Mary Kupiec, and many nephews and a neices, and a dear friend Janet Gardner who helped care for Linda at the home of her son Kristopher in Rogers. She is predeceased by her parents Laura (Wyeth) Glass and William Glass and her younger brother David. A celebration of Linda's life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 2pm. A reception will be held following the memorial at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice and Palliative care of Northeast Connecticut in her memory.
