Obituary of Rita J. Payne
Rita J. Payne, 90, of Brooklyn, died Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. She was the wife of the late Frederick Payne, they were married March 7, 1946, he died September 27 1977. She was born in Brooklyn, CT, August 23, 1920, daughter of Joseph and Yvonne (Mercier) Briere. She was communicant of St. James Church in Danielson. Rita worked as a sales clerk at Fishers Big Wheel in Brooklyn for 17 years. She will be remembered for her great faith, her sense of humor, and most of all for her caring and loving ways.
She leaves her children: Jean (George) Lukin of Moosup; Frederick Payne and his wife Cheryl of Jacksonville, FL; Robert Payne and his wife Claire of Danielson; Anne McHugh and her husband Donald of Spencer, MA; John Payne and his wife Carol of Las Vegas, NV; Christine Gauvin and her husband Raymond of Spencer, MA; her sister Theresa Wisniewski of Cape Cod, MA, her companion, Ernest Beausoleil of Dayville; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Lucien and Maurice, two sisters Margaret and Cecile.
Funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson. Calling Hours Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Research, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
