Obituary of Thomas E. Whitney
Thomas E. Whitney, 86, of Riverside Drive, Mechanicsville, CT, died Tuesday February 22, 2011 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the husband of the late Irene M. (Boisclair) Whitney, she died in 1990. He was born March 29, 1924 in Putnam, son of George and Ruby (Clarke) Whitney. He worked at Pratt and Whitney for over 20 years. He was a WWII veteran, with the US Army serving in the Pacific Theater. He has made his home in the Mechanicsville section of Thompson most of his life. He was an avid NASCAR auto racing fan, enjoyed walking and dinners at his daughter Shirley's home. He was a member of the Putnam VFW post 1523. He will be remembered as a kind and caring father, brother and grandfather.
He leaves his children: Shirley Hamel and her husband Edward of Wauregan; Nancy Wojcik and her companion Bill of Dayville; Alan Whitney and his wife Linda of Putnam; his sister Aleta Whitney of Mechanicsville, his grandchildren Michael, Kerry, Tanya, Dawn Marie, Christine and Dillon and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson Thomas and a sister June.
