Obituary of Albert A. Benoit

Albert A. Benoit, 85, of Stonebridge Road, Woodstock, CT, died Wednesday March 9, 2011 morning at his home. He was the beloved husband of Bertha (Hopkins) Benoit; they were married July 24, 1948. He was born March 11, 1925 in Putnam, son of the late Alphonse and Antoinette (Glosselin) Benoit. He was employed for over sixty years working for the Putnam Woolen Company and then Hale Manufacturing Company, as a supervisor. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army Air Corps. Albert was a member of the Putnam and Woodstock Volunteer Fire Departments. He had made his home in Woodstock since 1964 moving from Putnam. He was an active member of the Putnam Fish and Game Club. He leaves in addition to his wife Bertha, his children Albert A. Benoit, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Woodstock; Mary Kennett and her husband Gary of Woodstock; Susan Robinson and her husband Rusty of West Monroe, NY; a sister Rita Gerard of Dayville; grandchildren Kathy, Jason, Bryan, Scott, Deborah, six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be Saturday at 12 (Noon) at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. A Calling hour Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of Service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association, PO Box 222, S. Woodstock, CT 06267.
