Obituary of Rita L. Kamuda

Rita L. Kamuda, 86, of Ledgewood Acres, Plainfield, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was born June 3, 1924 in Smithfield, RI, daughter of the late Wilfred and Laura (Preavy) Joyal.

he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Wauregan. She was a very devoted mother, talented seamstress, loved to knit and crochet, an avid bingo player who enjoyed the casino. She always enjoyed watching professional golf and enjoyed the company of her many friends and loved to dance in her younger days. Rita liked to reminisce of her employment at Electric Boat as a welder during World War II. She will be sadly missed. She worked for The State of Connecticut as an aide in a group home for 12 years prior to her retirement.

She leaves her children: June Vivigatz and her husband Peter of Plainfield; Susan Kamuda and her husband Harry Porter of Arundel, ME; Michael Kamuda and his companion Mary Riley of Plainfield,her grandchildren: Karen LeSage, John LeSage, Tammy Baker, Thomas Caffrey IV, Amy Durocher and her husband Thomas, Troy Kamuda, her great grandchildren: Justin LeSage, Elijah Stone, Nathaniel Caffrey, Brittany Chabot, Jessica Chabot, Ethan Durocher and Bethani-Luanne Durocher. She was predeceased by her daughter Eva LeSage and a grandson Timothy LeSage.

Calling Hours will be Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart Church, 620 Wauregan Road, Wauregan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rita's memory to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr, Rocky Hill, CT.
