Obituary of Joseph Mozzer
Joseph "Joe" Mozzer February 19, 1921 - April 5, 2011 Danielson - Joseph "Joe" Mozzer, 90, of Katherine Avenue, Danielson, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Regency Heights Nursing Home. Beloved husband of Doris T. (Hebert) Mozzer they were married April 11, 1942 in St. Ignatius Church, she died March 20, 2007. Born February 19, 1921 in Manchester, son of the late Stephen and Julia (Vozna) Mozzer.
He attended local schools, he was a communicant of St. James Church. Joe was proud to be a member of the Merchant Marines. He joined the Marines in 1944, a Veteran of WWII, honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for Rogers Corporation as a machine operator for 46 years retiring in 1984, a member of the Paper Makers Union and the VFW. Joe enjoyed dancing, golfing, fishing, traveling and their winters in Florida.
He is survived by two daughters: Cheryl Veilleux and her husband Richard of Danielson; and Darlene Harvey and her husband James of Danielson, a sister, Virginia Nycz of NJ, grandchildren, Tracey Columbia, Jamie Columbia, Barry Veilleux and Nicole Houle, great grandchildren, Matthew Hajder, Zachary Hajder, Mackenzie Columbia, Anthony Veilleux and Cooper Veilleux, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eight siblings.
A Memorial Mass will be Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery with Military Honors. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James School, 120 Water Street, Danielson, CT 06239.
