Obituary of Elizabeth M. Martel

Elizabeth M. Martel, 80, formerly of Woodstock, CT, died Thursday April 21, 2011 at the Westview Nursing Center, Dayville. She was born March 24, 1931 in Putnam, daughter of the late Polidore and Marion (Bateman) Aubin. She had made her home in Woodstock most of her life, she enjoyed crocheting and family gatherings and picnics. She was a loving mother and always had time for her family. She was a 1949 graduate of Rockville High School, and was employed for over twenty five years at US Button in Putnam. She leaves her children: Betty Brisson of Dayville, CT; Joann Martel and companion Ted Briere of Putnam; Robert Martel and his wife Terry of Garland, TX; Joseph Martel and his wife Donna of Woodstock; Roger Martel and his wife Annette of Woodstock; Norman Martel and his wife Tina of Woodstock; two sisters: Pricilla Combies of Moosup, CT; Loretta Sheldon of Thompson, CT; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sons Delphis Martel, Jr; Ronald Martel; Gary Martel; a granddaughter April Brisson; three brothers Franklin Aubin; Theodore Aubin; Thomas Aubin. The Funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Calling Hours Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial at a later date in Quassett Cemetery, Woodstock.
