Obituary of Titolivio “Ted” Magao

Titolivio "Ted" Magao, 88, of Danielson, CT, passed away peacefully with his wife, daughter and son at his side, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was the beloved husband of Fernanda (Gonsalves) Magao, married in May 1948, New Bedford, MA. Ted was born January 15, 1923 in New Bedford, son of the late Alfonso and Maria Jose Amaral Magao. He was educated in Lisbon, Portugal and learned the barber profession there. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. After his discharge from the US Army in 1945, he established his own Barber Shop that he operated for over fifty years. He was known to many as "Ted the Barber". Ted was a communicant of St. James Church and served as a St. James greeter, member of the Putnam VFW #1523, the Brooklyn Grange where he held many offices. Ted was an avid Red Sox Fan. He leaves his wife Fernanda, his son Gary Magao and his wife Patricia of Salem; his daughter Charlotte Doyle and her husband Gary of Danielson; grandson Sean B. Doyle of Putnam, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Ryan S. Doyle in 2009, his brothers Tony Magao and Joe Magao, a sister Nina Beito. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Calling Hours Friday, July 22, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson with Military Honors.
