Obituary of Maejel C. Gee

Maejel C. (Bugbee) Gee, 93, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully in her home as were her wishes on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Wife of the late Harry S. Gee, he passed away August 30, 2001 they were married in 1937 for 66 years. She was born January 6, 1918 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late William and Grace (Barrett) Bugbee.

She grew up going to Pomfret School and graduated from Woodstock Academy in 1936. Maejel graduated from the Wellesley Gardening School in Wellesley, MA. She worked for Town & Country Garden Shop in Southbridge, MA, for a few years. She was a Ladies Aide at the North Woodstock Church. Maejel worked for the North Woodstock Post Office as the Assistant Post Master. She was a Member of the Order of The Eastern Star, the Rebecca Chapter in Putnam for 35 years, she was a member of the Historical Society of Woodstock; she was the founding member of the Garden Club in Woodstock and a life member of the Worcester Garden Club. Maejel also loved to travel.

She is survived by her two children R. Naomi Gee of Woodstock, Frank R. Gee of Woodstock, grandchildren Judith Lyon, John Gee, Tom Gee, Christopher Gee, Kelly Ann Stanton, great-grandchildren, Kristopher Comerford, Katie Gee, Mallory Gee, Michael Gee, Mission Gee, Joseph McCarthy, Jillian McCarthy and a step-sister Betty R. Bugbee of Liverpool, NY. She was predeceased by a step-brother Robert Bugbee.

Memorial Service will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. Calling Hours from 12:15 to 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial following in North Woodstock Cemetery, Woodstock, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Woodstock Area Garden Club, PO Box 323, Woodstock, CT 06281.
