It is with deep sadness that the family of Thomas Field announces the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Tom was born in Brockton, MA on April 30, 1942. His parents were Eleanor (Tupper) and Harold F. Field.
He graduated from Abington High School. Tom attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology and the University of New Haven and achieved his Master’s Degree at the age of 62 from Albertus Magnus College. He worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for Pratt & Whitney for 42 years. Tom was involved with the Killingly Town Council and Planning and Zoning committees. A former President of the E. Killingly Fire District, a Captain of Rescue, Red Cross, Certified First Aid-CPR Instructor and a former EMT with KB Ambulance. He was a Scoutmaster for many years in Dayville with Troop #45.
On May 25, 1963 he married the love of his life Cynthia Ann (Hume) and enjoyed 48 years of marriage together. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Jennifer and Brian, grandchildren, Brandon and Kaylee, a sister Nancy and his cane chewing canine companion Molly. With all the trials and tribulations that Tom faced, he never gave up and was truly an inspiration to all who knew him.

A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tom’s memory to The Day Kimball Oncology Department, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or Humane Society of United States, 2100 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037. Tom, Cindy, We remember all the good times we had, even though is was a short time with you guys, till you all move away from Morton Rd. Like when the kids where all small and playing outside and the parties we had and Tome playing ping pong with we in the cellar. I can go on forever, Hope all is as well a expected. Cindy Brian and Jennifer, our prays go out to you. Jen do you remember riding your bike into the side of the pool deck? and Cindy I still have the ceramic Christmas tree you and Diane gave me, and Brian do you remember play with the dogs in the snow?

We were shocked to hear of Tom's untimely passing. We will always remember those Holiday parties / gatherings on Mildred Road (Meriden, CT) in the 60's and Tom's happy attitude and special laugh. there is so much hurt and discuss with the family that I am not going to state but Tom was a very loving and caring man my daughters which are his granddaughters weather they are part of that family or not has lost out on seeing there grandfather in the last 5 and 6 years that they have been alive. There was something you could count on when Tom was in the infusion room...that there would be lively conversation, laughter, compassion, and thought provoking remarks.
