Obituary of Helen J. Bennett

Helen J. Bennett, 86, of Woodstock died October 21, 2011 at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. She was the beloved wife of Rene Bennett. She was born on May 30, 1925 in Union, CT. Daughter of the late Karl and Paraska (Fryneko) Syzch. Helen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked most of her life at the family dairy farm, Coatney Hill Farm in West Woodstock, CT, where she was a Jill of all trades. Helen was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Pomfret for thirty years. She loved going on trips to visit family. Helen is survived by her loving husband Rene, sons, Donald R. Bennett and his wife Selene of Woodstock, Ronald W. Bennett and his wife Elizabeth of Corpus Christi, TX, Peter F. Bennett and his wife Constance of Woodstock, a sister, Marie Long of Florida, grandchildren Ben, Pamela, Mathew, Scott, Christopher, Amy, Peter, Jr., Eric, Emily, Samantha and all of her great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her daughter Janice Bennett in 2008. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Christ Episcopal Church, 521 Pomfret Street (Rte 169) Pomfret, CT. Burial to follow in Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock, CT. Calling Hours are Monday, October 24, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
