Obituary of Jacqueline A. Oatley

Jacqueline A. Oatley, 80, of East Killingly, CT, passed away peacefully at the Regency Heights Nursing Home on October 22, 2011 after battling Parkinsons for many years. The beloved wife of Herbert Oatley, they were married August 30, 1950. She was born July 9, 1931 in Brooklyn, CT, daughter of the late William and Antoinette (Fournier) Grenon.

Jackie and her husband Herb owned Colonial Paving and she performed all the bookkeeping services until her retirement. Jackie also worked for many years as a Bookkeeper/Secretary at Danielson Oil and Rogers Corp. She was employed at the East Killingly Post Office for 27 years, and served as Postmaster for seven years, retiring in 1992. She was an avid Ball Room Dancer. Jackie was involved in the PTA for Killingly Central School, devoting much of her time to the East Killingly Fire Department and the Women's Auxiliary, a member of the Highland Grange in South Killingly and a long time parishioner of St. James Church and Our Lady of Peace as a weekly reader.

She leaves her husband of 61 years Herbert, five children: Roberta Flaherty of Melbourne, FL; Herbert Oatley, Jr. (Karen) of Killingly; Lori Altdorf (Ron) of Brooklyn; Michael Oatley (Monique) of Brooklyn; Michele Klein (Alan) of Trumbull; a brother: William Grenon of Leesburg Florida; a sister Margaret Holland of Putnam; she will be missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved so much, Bridget, Colleen, Brad, Gary, Shawna, Karissa, Emily, Allyson, Jordan, Alyssa, Jake, Brooke and Ray Ray. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Jim Flaherty, her brother Donald Grenon and a sister Theresa Johnson. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother, and she will be sadly missed "We love You Mom".

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday October 28, 2011 at 12:15 PM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made in her memory to the National Parkinson Foundation, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
