Obituary of Martha M. Dion

Martha Dion, 91, of Danielson died Friday November 4, 2011 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, MA. She was born September 12, 1920 in St. Pacome, Canada, daughter of the late Joseph and Alvine (Ruest) Gagnon. She relocated to the U.S. in 1926 in the Danielson area. She was married to Philip Dion in St. James Church on August 22, 1942, he died September 27, 1972. She worked in the textile mills, and was a salesperson for Puritan clothing stores, then took a job at Alice Eleanor Clothing Store, retiring in 1996. She was a volunteer in the Brooklyn Schools. After marrying Philip they lived in CT for a few years before moving to Miami FL, they moved back to CT after a few years. Martha enjoyed sewing, cooking and traveling. Martha truly enjoyed living at Village Manor in Plainfield before passing away at UMass. She leaves a brother Roger Gagnon and his wife Barbara, a brother in law Daniel Ferron and his wife Pamela, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Paul Gagnon and her sisters Emma Barbeau, Alice Vincent, Claire Fournier, Lena Kania, Frances Ferron, and Lucy Bernier. Calling hours for Martha and her sister Lucy Bernier will be Tuesday, November 8, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street Danielson, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial for both will be Wednesday November 9, at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT, burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
