Viola G. Baril, 101, of Brooklyn, died peacefully Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Villa Maria Convalescent Home in Plainfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years Adrian Baril. Daughter of Ovila and Emma (Halloy) Guertin, she was born January 19, 1910 in Putnam, CT. Viola attended St. Mary's School in Putnam. After her completion of her education she was employed as a domestic for the Whitin Family of Whitinsville, MA. She spent the rest of her working life in the textile industry at Wauregan Mills as a "Drawing in Hand" and later until her retirement at age 65 for Gant Shirts. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Wauregan and a lifetime member of the Daughters of Isabella. She leaves a son Richard Baril (Arlene) of Brooklyn. A daughter Kathleen Schimmelpfennig (Joseph), three grandchildren Karen Cresimanno (Mike), Heidi Hare (Jim) and Geoffrey Schimmelpfennig (Liz) and six great grandchildren Zachary, Matthew, Joseph, Carli, Alexa and Adam. She also leaves a special niece, Norma Gileau (Norman) of Griswold. She was predeceased by a sister Ferdinand (Skippy) and a brother Norman E. A Celebration of her life will be Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. Burial will be private. Donations may be made in her memory to the Connecticut Children's Hospital, 285 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106 or a charity of your choice.
