Obituary of Francis C. Tinker
Francis C. Tinker, 78, of Putnam died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was born July 20, 1933 in Stafford Springs, son of the late Carlton and Elsie (Scranton) Tinker.
Francis was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Army. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #46 in Putnam for over 50 years and was an Auxiliary State Trooper with Troop D in Danielson for 30 years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Union, CT. Francis enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend Claire Tinker, two daughters, Beth Habercoss and her husband Robert of Sterling and Cathy Gluck of Moosup, a son Scott Tinker of Moosup, a sister Betty Vilandre of Union and a brother Robert Tinker of Sturbridge, MA, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his friends Lee and Peter. He was predeceased by a sister Ella Lataille.
A Graveside Service will be Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM in The Union Center Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Union, CT, with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Masonic Temple Lodge #46, PO Box 46, South Woodstock, CT 06267. Arrangements by Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
