Obituary of Janice M. MacLellan
Janice M. MacLellan, 72, of Woodstock, CT, died Friday morning at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, surrounded by her family. She was born August 16, 1939 in Putnam, daughter of the late Jerome C. and May R. (Law) Tourtellotte.
Janice worked as a caregiver at the Mansfield Training School for several years; she also worked at the Dempsey Center in Putnam and later at the Putnam Group Home. She graduated from Oxford High School and spent her youth in Oxford, MA, and had made her home in Pomfret for several years, in 1994 she moved to Woodstock. Janice had a great interest in Genealogy, an avid reader, enjoyed Cross word puzzles, whale watching on Cape Cod, and cruises to the Caribbean. She was known to many by her great sense of humor and her great independence; she always enjoyed her time with her family and friends.
She leaves her children Nils J. Jacobson and his wife Sharon Blanchette of Windsor, CT; Tambree L. Randall and her husband Craig of Harvard, MA; their father Robert Jacobson; three sisters, Ruth Kneier of Putnam, Karen Dimock of Woodstock; Lynne Foote of Woodstock; grandchildren, Hilary, Benton, Spencer, Rachel, Ethan, Victoria, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. Calling Hours Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in Munyan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Day Kimball Hospital, Hospice Unit, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or Connecticut Society of Genealogists, PO Box 435, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
