Beatrice E. Sumner, 90, of Pomfret Center, CT, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Oakwood Nursing Home in Webster, MA. She was the wife of the late Francis E. Sumner, he died in 1992. She was born in Putnam, daughter of the late Eugene and Regina (Gagne) Cady.

She had made her home in Pomfret for over 50 years, a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret. She was employed for 25 years at Line Master Switch in Woodstock. Beatrice enjoyed reading and taking walks. She leaves her children: Robin Reis and her husband Joseph of Nantucket, MA; Jay Sumner of Pomfret Center; sister Barbara McDuffie of Putnam; two grandchildren: Justin Reis and Brian Reis; several nieces and nephews.

A Calling Hour will be Monday, March 12, 2012 from 12:00 (Noon) to 1:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM in the. Burial in the spring in Center Cemetery, Woodstock. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Pomfret Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 67, Pomfret Center, CT 06259.
