Obituary of Joseph Bove

Joseph Bove, Jr., of Lake Alexander, Dayville, CT, born in Putnam January 4, 1939, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 16, 2012 surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Sandra (Page) Bove, recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. He was the son of Joseph Bove and Rose (Henault) Bove. Joe graduated Putnam High School in 1956 and attended the University of Hartford. His career as a design engineer took him to opportunities around the country, eventually returning to Northeastern Connecticut where he devoted most of his time to substance abuse counseling. He was also owner and operator of Papa Joe's Ice Cream Shop in Danielson. Joe served on the Killingly Town Council for two terms. He was a member of the Board of Directors of United Services and was active with NECASA. Joe was also a PER of the Putnam Elks and served as a Justice of the Peace in Killingly. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons and their wives: Dennis and Rose Bove of Pomfret; Daniel and Elizabeth Bove of Woodstock; and Michael and Jennifer Bove of Marlborough. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Natasha, Michael, Andrew, Dominic, Ethan, Samantha and Jason, his mother-in-law granny Rita and cousin Keyren Cotter. Joe was a long time friend of Bill W. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson.
