I worked for Jim at the State of CT in the early 1980's. I was a mixed-up kid in my early 20's. I went through a horrendous painful divorce during that time. Jim was very kind to me understanding how painful that situation was as he had been through it himself. He was a good man. I remember him smoking his pipe.

Jim - What can we say to you to express how much you have meant to us. We have shared alot of time with you in our lives and feel truly blessed to have shared a part of this world with you. We will miss playing cards, watching tv, and going out to eat with you. We shared many trips to mutual friend’s houses and many cookouts in your backyard. It has been over two months since you passed and i still can't get used to not seeing you with Amy. She loves you so and is always missing you. You meant so very much to her. You two shared a rare kind of loving bond that most people do not have today. Thanks for all the wonderful memories you gave us!!!! We love you and miss you so much. Xxoo till we meet again.

One of my most fond memories of Jim was in the fire department when we were having quiet time at a fundraiser. As we were just talking about people we realized that we had family in common. As we dug a little further into the family tree of who married whom, we found that we were "cousins". Well into our adult years, we never knew. So, whenever we'd see each other, even after he left the EIFC, but mostly at the post office, it was always "hi cuz". Go in peace "cuz".

On behalf of the Eastford Independent Fire Company, #1, Inc., I would like to express our sympathy to Jim's family and friends. For those who do not know of Jim's participation in the EIFC, it is as follows: Joined in 1973, served as President from 1979-1983; Vice President from 1983-1984; Fire Lieutenant from 1983-1990 and Board of Directors from 1987-1989. During his tenure in the company, he was always there to help when the call came out for a medical or fire, anywhere from a few minutes to hours on scene. As a business manager in the department he ran a pretty tight ship at all our fundraisers. No one got past Jim when there were tickets to be sold. He was as good a friend outside the company as he was when in service. His family can be very proud of him. He made his mark in the EIFC. Donations will be accepted with appreciation in his memory.
Thank you Jim for time served. Jeannine Spink, President / EMS Captain

I will never forget the quote that Jim wrote at my high school graduation party (when asked to give advice to the graduate). He wrote "To thine own self be true." And when I think about Jim, that message of integrity speaks very much of the person he was; Always someone you could count on to be honest and true. At the end of the day, we only have our own selves to answer to for our thoughts and deeds of the day... And I'm sure that for his part, Jim was able to look back on a life well-lived, feeling well-loved by his wife (my wonderful and devoted sister Amy) and his children. A truly good man... Rest in peace, Jim! May the Peace of the Lord be with your family at this time and always.
With Love, Nicole

On behalf of myself and my husband John; There are no words that could possibly convey the heaviness we feel in our hearts. Jim lived his life by an honor system deep in values seldom seen in modern times. His interests were diversified and he could speak to many a subject. What he did not know he made it a point to learn about it. He loved family and cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by those he loved- and he loved deeply. We do believe that the world was made a better place because Jim was here for a time. Jim loved to dance, listen to country music and take care of his home. most of all he loved Amy. He was a very special brother-in-law never to be forgotten. We miss you Jim...forever in our hearts.
