Obituary of Normand R. Turenne
Normand R. Turenne, 83 of 65 Ballou Street, Ella Grasso Apartments, died Monday February 16, 2015 in Hartford Hospital. He was born September 13, 1931 in Canada, son of Armand and Anna (Breault) Turenne.
Normand worked as an assembler at Pratt and Whitney for over eight years, and also at Belding and Metals Selling Corp., he retired from Bollore, Inc. in Dayville working in maintenance.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army, honorably discharged in April 4, 1955. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation. Normand enjoyed vegetable gardening, especially growing his tomatoes that he shared with his family and friends. His hobbies included fishing and deer hunting. He was a former member of the Putnam Fish and Game Club. Most of all Normand loved visiting with his family and friends daily. He leaves his brother Theodore Turenne of Canandaigua, NY; his sister-in-law Delia Turenne of North Carolina; his brother-in-law Thomas Currier of Putnam, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Theresa Robillard, Aline Robert, Jeanne Currier, Donat Turenne, Henry Turenne, and Antoinette Carpenter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be April 18, 2015, at 11:00 at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Ella Grasso Recreational Fund.
