Obituary of Marilyn Nadine Kolat

KOLAT, Marilyn Nadine Died - September 2, 2015 Marilyn Nadine Kolat, 48, went to be with her Savior on September 2, 2015, following a courageous struggle with ALS. As a graduate of Putnam High School and the Certified Nursing Assistant program at QVCC, she found great joy caring enthusiastically for patients, in her role as a CNA. Marilyn leaves her brothers Glenn (Olga) of CT. and Brian (Kitty) of SC., her nieces Reneé, Kristin, Johanna, Kyria, nephew Hazen, great-niece Tigerlily, many dear cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her father Emeryk, mother Janet, and older sister Beverly. Marilyn enjoyed Bible doctrine most, but also disc jockeying, motorcycles, sporty vehicles, her pets (a number of exotic animals but, especially her dogs Neeko, Parish, Nicky, and her deceased mother's cat, Calita). She took pleasure as well in Sunday picnics with her CT. brother's family, long phone conversations with her SC. brother, and spending time with her close friends David Day and Doreen Ericson (who became her incredibly devoted caregivers). A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 am at Smith and Walker Funeral Home in Putnam, CT. on September 19, 2015, with burial following in Grove Street Cemetery. The family would like to thank Attorney Alyson Aleman, the DKH hospice team, ALS Association Connecticut Chapter, and Laura's Guardian Angels for their excellent care and support. Marilyn requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Grace Bible Church, P.O. Box 128, Seekonk, MA 02771 (online at gbible.org), or Hospice and Palliative Care of NECT, c/o DKH Development Office, P.O. Box 632 Putnam, CT 06260.
