Charlie was alway a gentlemen, a soft spoken friend. I was suprised to hear that he became a cop. Coming from a family of police officers I know how rough and rowdy they can be.
I remember one time, when he lived on Staten Island, after a long night he left to go home. There was a terrrible storm that night and one of the ferries flipped over. Many lives were lost that day. It was with great trepidation that we waited to hear from him. Thank God he was OK. Charlie was never a man of many words but he left a strong impression of a soft spoken giant.
He was one of the Sol's "gang". We are true to each other to the end.
God Bless you and your family.

To the family of Charles A. Palcic I would like to extend my deepest condolence for the loss of your loved one. I was one of the teens that hung out in the "Tunnel" in Glen Oaks. I was only apart of the group for about 3 1/2 years until we moved away. I was proud to be a part of an awesome group of great friends & Charlie was part of that group. He will always be in your hearts & he will always walk beside you in whatever you do. God Bless Your Family & R.I.P. Charlie

To the Bereaved family of Charles (Charlie) Palcic;
Charlie and I were each acquaintance's , along with 20 or more young teenagers who found the time to embrace and befriend each other while we all tried to adjust to growing up in the world around us.
I was fourteen, when I met this quite, soft spoken young man. Charlie was muscular, but never aggressive. I was impressed with his coming from Haverstraw, NY, Just the name insinuated two farm boys from the hicks.
We all learned to accept each other as equals. There was never any (that I knew of) ethnic or religious slurs toss or bantered at each other. We shared one another's holidays as sisters and brothers; showing joy whenever any one of us experienced good times as well as cried during the hurting, hard times.
With a Heavy heart I ponder the past, breathe deeply and wish Charlie a speedy and painless trip to heaven, along side of the Lord. At G-d's right side.
With compassion and due respect, Lawrence Albala

Charlene, I was saddened to hear about your Dad. We go back a long way. Please accept my sincere condolences for you, your Mom and the rest of your family.
The last time I saw your Dad he was standing at the front door of the Police Departments Property Clerks ware house in the Village. I believe it was on 8th ave., but I’m getting old and you can’t rely on my memory any more, or less for that matter.
As I was walking by I heard a voice from out of the past yell, Hey, Steve, and there he was standing in front of the place in his uniform. I found that strange because I was a also a Cop. Neither one of us knew the other was on the job. We had a lot of good laughs talking about the P.D., old times and friends from Glen Oaks and the time we both spent in the Navy. And of course we promised to keep in touch. But as things go we didn’t. Even so it turned out to be a good afternoon and a great last memory of Charlie for me. When he gets to where he’s going I’m sure he will be greeted by old friends from Glen Oaks that will be waiting for him, beers in hand.
And the next time the Tunnel gang meets his name will be toasted along with our three other departed friends. And Charlene, as they say,” People Never Die As Long As Someone Remembers Their Name”. And Charlie will be remembered by a bunch of old friends.
Sincerely,
Steve Mandel

I grew up with Charlie in Glen Oaks during our teen years (before military). He was always a pleasure to be with a a lot of fun when we had a few beers. As a member of "Sol's Gang" he was always a leader. Although I haven't seen Charlie in 50 years, the memories of our frienship will remain forever.

To the family of Charlie Palcic:
I remember like it was yesterday when Charlie got a Police Escort on his way to my house for carrying beer. He was under age and my Parents were going out for the night. He was always a gentleman and he will be remembered in my heart forever. I hope he reunites with his friend, my brother Gary, in heaven.

Even though I hadn't seen you since the 60's, my thought is that the world needs more people like you. RIP Charlie.
