Obituary of Joseph Normand Chattelle

Woodstock-Joseph Normand Chattelle, 82 of Woodstock, went to join his wife on October 2, 2015, he’s happy with where he is. Beloved husband of the late Virginia (Larsen) Chattelle, she died March 8, 2006. He was born February 23, 1933 in Plainfield, son of the Armand and Antoinette Moreau. He worked as a machine operator at General Cable. He made his home in Woodstock all of his life, a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret, active with Boy Scout Troop 27, the Connecticut River Council for 40 years. He was also active with Cub Scouts and was a former baseball coach. He was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed farming and woodworking and was a member of the American Legion. Joseph was a missionary to Peru for five years. He leaves seven children, Toni Richie and husband Dennis of Brooklyn, Loretta Chattelle and husband Gordon Hardy of Greenfield MA, David Chattelle and his wife Cathy of Terryville, CT, Joanne Eichner and husband Steven of Columbia, CT, Michael Chattelle and his wife Rosemary of Woodstock, Barbara Kelleher and husband Jeffery of Woodstock Valley, Thomas Chattelle of Vernon, CT, two brothers Donald and Dennis and other siblings, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren, a dear friend and neighbor, Howard Edwards. He leaves his beloved pets Meow Meow and Honey. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Virginia. Calling Hours Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home 148, Grove Street, Putnam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday October 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT. Burial in Elmvale Cemetery with Military Honors.
