Obituary of John F. Papini, Jr.
WOODSTOCK-John F. Papini Jr., 77, died peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Norwich on February 11, 1938, the only child to the late Giovanni “John” and Stasia (Wienciez) Papini, Sr.
John was a 1956 graduate of Griswold High School and went on to earn his degree, Master of Science, from Eastern Connecticut State Collage. He was united in marriage to Patricia Kaiko on April 25, 1959 and they moved to Woodstock in 1977. John was an instructor of mathematics and science at Windham Tech for 29 years; he volunteered at the Woodstock Historical Society and worked for four years on the book committee which produced the book, "A Journey Through Woodstock 1686-2011". He enjoyed his vegetable gardens and his travels to Alaska, Italy and the several trips taken to the U.K. were his fondest.
In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Papini of Woodstock, he leaves his sons, John F. Papini III and his wife Heather of Cooper City, FL and Michael J. Papini of Woodstock; his grandchildren, Olivia S. Papini and Giovanni F. Papini of FL as well as his brothers-in-law, Stanley Kaiko of SC and Robert Kaiko of CT.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 5-7pm at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. Procession will assemble at the funeral home at 9am on Tuesday Oct. 13 for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret. Burial will immediately follow at Woodstock Hill Cemetery.
Gratitude is expressed to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Day Kimball Oncology Unit for their care and kindness for over a period of almost 10 years. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to Day Kimball Home Care, 320 Pomfret St., Putnam, CT 06260.
