Obituary of Evelyn Bates

Evelyn Bates, 84, of Thompson, CT, passed away on December 30, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living Community in Auburn, MA. Evelyn was born on May 3, 1931 to Antoinette (Latour) and Walter Carpenter. She was the wife of the late William Bates, who passed away in September 2015. She and William celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in July 2015. Evelyn took great pride in her home and family, and was a wonderful cook and talented cake decorator, as well as a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter Nanci and her husband Russ, as well as her sisters Joyce Bomba and Marilyn Van Dyke, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Phyllis Spurgeon and Eileen Fougere, and her brother Bernard Carpenter. A memorial service will be Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph's Church in North Grosvenordale, CT. The family would like to thank both the staff at Brookdale and the hospice team for their kind and compassionate care during Evelyn's stay there.
