Obituary of Alfred Marando
Alfred Marando, 86 of Brooklyn, CT, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Clara (Sears) Marando. They were married April 10, 1963 at the Attawaugan Methodist Church. He was born in Sutton, MA, December 17, 1929, son of Joseph and Aldea (Bertrand) Marando. He served in the US Navy from 1947-1950 and was Honorably Discharged as Yeoman Seaman. He worked for factories in Sutton and Killingly, CT until he opened AL’s Plaza Restaurant in 1969. In 1976 he built and moved to AL’s II Restaurant & Lounge. He sold the restaurant in 1985. He loved to travel with his wife and spend time with his family.
In addition to his wife Clara, he leaves his children Chris Dauphinais and her husband Brian of Brooklyn, Joe Roireau of South Elgin, IL, Debbie Goulart of Brooklyn, Denise Graff of Danielson, Alfred Marando of Auburn, MA, Susan Kahn of Bradenton, FL and Deborah Babb of Bradenton, FL; 18 grandchildren: Zachary, Benjamin, Chelsea, Samuel, Jack, Chili, Eva, Tanya, Jeremy, Amy, Nicole, Edward, Melissa, Heather, Brett, Dina, Jessica and Erica; and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Gordon Marando of Cabot, AR and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Frances, Carol, Joseph and Rodney.
There will be a Calling Hour on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
