My thoughts, prayers and hugs to you Charlene, and the others of your family. Speaking for Doug's extended Cutjer family, I want you to know that Doug personified all the characteristics of our ancestor and "family hero" Manasseh. I was struck by the comparison when Doug gave his talk to the historical society several years ago, but never got to tell him. Dedication to serving his community and country, compassion for his fellow man and his quiet, intelligent leadership were outstanding qualities of both men. I shall miss our chats and his "forever smile".

Charlene, Tim & James, I am so sorry for your loss. Doug was a great guy. I served on the Washington DC committee at the middle school with him (he was very passionate about Washington DC, and very knowledgable about it too!) I will miss seeing him at the post office all the time (our PO boxes were near each other), where he would always greet me with a Hi Teri! He was a very accomplished individual and will be missed by the entire community.

Our deepest condolences to Doug's family, especially Charlene, Tim, and James. I remember how much Doug enjoyed watching the boys play baseball for WA and American Legion, and he always volunteered to run the scoreboard for the games at WA field. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.
May God's healing grace bring you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Doug's legacy will live on through his children and for generations to come. Prayers for you all.

Doug was a great soul. He was kind and thoughtful, and quick to offer his hand in fellowship and collaboration. His work in connection with the Hale Family YMCA was incredible and, but for, his intelligence and fortitude, we might still be struggling to make it a reality. Doug will be missed, but not forgotten . . . we owe a lot to his good will and will to do good. Many thanks to the Cutler family for sharing Doug with us.

Dear Cutler Family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. I had the privilege to know Doug throughout his careers in public service and was proud to count him as a friend. Doug was the epitome of a public servant, always putting people and principle first and politics last. He was a wise and thoughtful man who could be counted on for great counsel. and, like me, he loved the Sox.
the towns and state of Connecticut have lost a gentle giant. We are forever in his debt.
Sincere condolences, Jim Finley

Dear Charlene, Tim and James:
My heart goes out to you on the sudden and shocking passing of Doug. He was such a wonderful man and role model to all those who seek public service. I will always remember his warm smile, love for our region, and enthusiasm for the outdoors.
His loss to each of you is heartbreaking. You are in my thoughts.
His loss to our region and the town of Putnam in particular is so tragic. As a resident of Putnam I am deeply proud of the strides the town has made over the past decade. It was Doug's quiet behind the scenes hard work and determination that made Putnam what it is today. His legacy will live on in the towns he served and positive impact his work had on the lives of so many.
I wish you peace. Each of you are in my thoughts.

I had the privilege of working with Doug on projects that would benefit the residents and visitors in the Town of Putnam, but my forever favorite memory of Doug was when I was on the bus with him and several dozen Woodstock Middle School students on their trip to Washington DC. He shared his knowledge of his knowledge of the city with the students in a way that was fun. I hope Doug knows that the Washington Monument will be forever in my memory be associated with him. Rest in peace, Doug. To Charlene and the boys, I am so sorry for your loss.

To Doug's wife, sons & the entire Cutler family. I just met Doug a month ago before going on the air with Gary O on Sept 2nd to promote the Putnam 15th anniversary 9/11 ceremony, along with my brother, Ron Coderre. The three of us covered various items of the event while on the air. The interview went very well, as did the actual event on September 11th, with Doug filling in for Ron as Master of Ceremonies. My meeting Doug for the first time at WINY radio station was easy because of his warm handshake and outgoing personality. Seeing him again just nine days later made it so much easier for him and me! He did a wonderful job as MC, and it went off without a hitch. I am so very shocked and saddened by his sudden passing, and I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to all of you. May God rest his soul, and I wish only peace and love to all of you. Sincerely, Dee Carnahan
