Obituary of George H. Pearce

August 22, 1940 - November 14, 2013 WOODSTOCK George H. Pearce, 73, passed away on November 14, 2013 at home, surrounded by his loving family after an eight month battle with lung cancer. He was born in Whitehouse Station, NJ, son of George A. Pearce and Esther Gerth. As a young man he moved to Putnam where he met his wife, Iride (Edie) Rossi, and they married on November 16, 1963 (now their 50th anniversary). He and Iride raised their family and ran his businesses Pearce Electric and Pearce Properties in Danielson, and later retired in Woodstock. George was an extremely strong and capable person who gave more than 100% both in business and with family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and in his retirement he enjoyed his beagles and was very active in local beagle clubs. He is survived by his wife Iride, their two daughters Laura Pearce and Janice Pearce, his nephew Jeffrey Smith, his wife Cheryl and their two children Ellie and Brandon, his nephew Paul Reed, his wife Kathy and their two children Damon and Elena, his niece Jane O'Donovan and her husband Tom. He was pre-deceased by his sisters Margaret and Mary Jane, and his daughter Susan Pearce. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church of the Visitation on Monday, November18th at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Putnam.
