I remember my Aunt Gert as being a kind, loving women. She always made our family feel welcome when we visited. Her homemade french fries and apple pie were the best! I have many memories of playing with Bruce and Freddie at Grandma and Grandpa Tinkham's house. Cousin Ruth- thank you for checking in on Gert so frequently.

Gertrude and my mother, Martha (Tinkham) Langstaff, were good friends in childhood. As I recall, for a time Gertrude lived with my mom and family in Alhambra, CA - Sarah Tinkham Langstaff, my grandmother, was a sister of Gertrude's father, Frederick. I believe Bud, another cousin (son of Beulah), lived across the street with my great aunt Amy (Sarah, Beulah, and Frederick's sister). I think this was during the Great Depression. My mom maintained contact with Gertrude and Bub (I think she called him Bub instead of Bud) over the years. In 1993, I visited Gertrude in her home - Bud and Alethea took me there as I recall. Gertrude gave me a mug that I still use today. I also have some of her recipes, letters, and some other items she sent me over the years. My thanks to Nancy Sayer and Dan Lapolla for keeping me in touch with my Tinkham side of the family. 103 years is quite an achievement! Best wishes from your cousin, Carolyn Martha Crockett, Seattle, WA.
