Dee Hochberg

Obituary of Dee Hochberg

Dee Hochberg, 75, of Woodstock CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (January 22) under the loving and respectful staff of Westview Nursing Home and her lifelong physician, Doctor Wreschner. She earned her Master degree in social work at Smith College and committed her heart and skills to helping people. Dee was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Day Kimball volunteer program. Dee laughed daily, even in face of adversity. She loved horseback riding and sailing and was so tough even her poodle skirt had a bulldog on it. Dee was a devoted mother (to all) and grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her beloved children: Jeanne Nawrocki and her husband, Jack of Thompson CT, Elaine Hochberg of Woodstock CT, David Hochberg and Iris Reinhold of Melbourne Florida , Michael Hochberg of Woodstock CT., Judith Cote and her husband Jim of Woodstock CT, and her two grandchildren James Cote and his fiancé Sai Smitthimedhin, and Jacob Cote. She also leaves behind extended family and devoted friends. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday (January 24), 5:00 to 7:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Jewish Family Services, 333 Bloomfield Ave. West Hartford, CT. 06117 (a nonprofit agency where she worked for many years).
