Obituary of Joseph P. Collison

Joseph P. Collison, 84, of Danielson, died peacefully on May 21, 2014 at home, in Westtown, NY, with his loving family by his side. He was born December 8, 1929 in Blue Earth, Minnesotason of the late Elliot and Rose (Whitcomb) Collison. He marriedAngela R. Longinotti on May 9, 19 59 in New York City. Joseph was a Communicant of St. James Church in Danielson for over 50 years, but moved to be near his daughters soon after losing his wife of 54 years. He held many jobs through the years—from farm work in Minnesota, to working as a doorman in the U. S. House of Respresentatives in Washington. He traveled all over the country while working in the advertising business, but decided to settle in Danielson and become a teacher at Putnam High, where he taught for many years. After retirement, he served as the Pro-Life director for the Diocese of Norwich. He once held a seat on the Killingly Town Council, eventually serving as its Chairman. And was active in the Knights of Columbus in his younger years. Joseph also served his country in the United States Army. He leaves his son Steven and his wife Lisa Collison of OldSaybrook, CT; his four Daughters Ann Marie Hall of Mount Hope, NY, Alice and her husband John Curtis of Slate Hill, NY, Amy and her husband Christopher Borek of Westtown, NY, Jennifer and her companion Johnny Reges of Plainfield, CT. and grandchildren—Michael, Daniel, Scott, Catherine, John, Julie, Timothy, Steven, Jennifer, David, Ann, Benjamin, Amanda, Margaret, Sean, Thomas, Phillip, Joshua, Emma, andgreatgrandson James and many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Angela, his parents,sisters Mary and Dolly, and brothers Larry and Robert, and son-in-law, Michael Hall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street. A burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson, CT withMilitary Honors.
