Obituary of Dean E. Bunnell
Dean E. Bunnell, 59, of Eastford, passed away unexpectedly on Friday July 4, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. Dean was the son of the late Wayne J. and Emily M. (Young) Bunnell. Dean graduated from Woodstock Academy/ H.H. Ellis Technical School. Dean was currently employed by Spectra Automation Ltd. in Milford, MA as an electrical engineer. He remained active in the community as a member and Past Master of the Israel Putnam Lodge #46 A.F. & A.M. of South Woodstock. He was Chairman of the Eastford Republican Town Committee, a Veteran Member and a former Chief of the Eastford Independent Fire Company; he served on the Eastford Board of Selectmen, and was a Trustee and Secretary of The Grove Cemetery Association. Dean enjoyed vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, long weekend trips, Monday night poker games, and a good cigar. His family and friends will miss "Cuisine by Dean" as his culinary skills were the highlight of many get togethers.
Dean leaves behind the love of his life Lisa (Stocco) Bunnell and their son Silas Dean Bunnell. He is also survived by his brother Scott Bunnell, his sister Gail Bunnell and her husband Fred Mongeau, his sister Emily Guertin, and his brother Ross Bunnell and his wife Edith Pestana. He will also be missed by his father-in law Frank Stocco, sister in-law Cathy Ferony and her husband Dave, and his brother-in-law Anthony Stocco. In addition, many cousin, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 12 Bradford Corner Road, Woodstock, CT. Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. Burial in Grove Cemetery, Eastford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Silas Dean Bunnell Educational Fund, c/o The Saving Institute Bank and Trust, c/o Barry Shead, PO Box 957, Norwich, CT 06360.
