Obituary of Charles F. Eastman, Sr.

Charles F. Eastman, Sr., 86 of Route 44, Pomfret, died July 7, 2001 Saturday evening at the Westview Nursing Center in Dayville after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lyndall (Reed) Eastman, they were married March 12, 1939 in Norwich, VT. He was born January 20,1915 in Washington, VT, son of the late Charles and Laura (Colby) Eastman. Mr. Eastman worked for over sixty years for the Colman Hale Farm in Pomfret, as Herdsmen, Farm Manager and Caretaker. He enjoyed Deer Hunting and trout fishing, Bowling and his camp in Vermont. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He leaves in addition to his wife three sons -Charles F. Eastman, Jr of Mystic; Stanley W. Eastman of West Simsbury; Donald E. Eastman of Dayville, one brother: Harold J. Eastman of Lebanon, NH three sisters: Luna Svarfvar : Elsie Nichols both of Chelsea, VT; Charlene Eastman of Chelmsford, MA; 8 Grand children and 5 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers: George Eastman; Lawrence Eastman and one sister- Pearl Eastman. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM in Grove Street Cemetery, Grove St., Putnam.
