Obituary of Mark A. Nilo

Mark A. Nilo, 54, of Woodstock, CT died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 with his family by his side at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Mark was born in Concord, MA on April 12, 1958 to Salvatore and Doris (Smith) Nilo. He grew up in Sudbury, MA and attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, graduating in 1976. He was an executive in the broadcast television industry for over thirty years. Mark had a great love for music and was a self-taught guitarist. He loved being outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Mark had the rare gift of lifting spirits, whether through his infectious sense of humor, or by his kindness and compassion. These gifts were deeply felt by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Deborah (Powell) Nilo, daughter, Samantha and son, Anthony of Woodstock; his mother, Doris (Smith) Nilo of Sutton, MA; sister, Sandra Boucini and her husband Steven of Sutton, MA; brothers Terry Nilo of Union, CT and Robert Nilo and his wife Renee of Sutton, MA; his father-in-law, Stanley R. Powell of Laconia, NH; sisters-in-law Susan Church and her husband Jon of Groton, MA and Cheryl Carley and her husband Joseph, Jr. of Harrington Park, NJ; and nieces and nephews Ty, Amanda, Bobby, Kayla, Meredith, Melissa, Robert, Joseph III, Patrick, and Shannon. He was predeceased by his father, Salvatore, and his mother-in-law, Doris A. Powell. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT.
