Obituary of Fay P. Hewko
Fay P. Hewko of Island Road in Dayville, died Wednesday morning December 22, 2004 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, she was the beloved wife of Harry Hewko, they were married in 1988. She married her first husband Harold Field in 1944, he died in 1975. Born October 9, 1920 in Danielson, daughter of the late Ernest and Irene (Perry) Pellett.
In her younger years she moved to Putnam Heights with her Grandmother Jennie and her Grand Pa Ernest Perry. Fay was a graduate of Putnam High School, Class of 1938. Fay worked in the 5 & 10 Store, as Head of the Candy Department for many years and worked as a receptionist for Dr. James Hall for many years until her retirement in 1988. Fay resided at Alexander's Lake for the past 16 years. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Putnam and the Order of the Eastern Star, Betty Putnam Chapter. She was Past President of the Putnam Womens Club, Past Master of Putnam Grange #97 and held secretary positions in both organizations for many years. She went on many cruises including Alaska, Hawaii and many Caribbean Islands, loved to knit and made many Christmas stockings for family members and friends. Fay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. For the past 15 years she vacationed in Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont and loved to travel in the mountain region. She had a great collection of light houses, one special one made by Harry for her flower garden with a flashing light.
In addition to her husband she leaves a son Stuart Field of Danielson, three grandchildren, Mathew, Todd and Trevor, and 6 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM January 8, 2005 (Saturday), at the Congregational Church of Putnam, 175 Main Street, Putnam. No calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Northeastern CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT.
