Obituary of Mabel T. Seaman
Mabel T. Seaman, age 95, formerly of Liberty Highway, Putnam, died Thursday at the Westview Heath Care in Dayville. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Seaman, they were married June 23, 1931, he died September 10, 1995. She was born December 5, 1905 in Putnam, daughter of the late Dr. Harry and Anis (Chapman) Thompson.
She was a graduate of Putnam High School Class of 1927 and was a member of the Girls Varsity Basketball team. She attended the South United Methodist Church in Manchester. She made her home in Manchester most of her life, moving to Woodstock Meadows in 1985 and then to Putnam. Mrs. Seaman worked with her husband for over fifty years at their Hardware Store, Blish Hardware in Manchester until they retired in 1972. She was an avid Red Sox fan and UCONN Ladies Basketball fan. She enjoyed boating with her husband on Long Island Sound.
She leaves a sister: Elizabeth Wheaton of Dayville; several nieces and nephews, including her nephew Geoffrey Wheaton of Putnam with whom she made her home, she also leaves great nieces Melissa Godfrey and her children Joshua Scraber and Travis Godley and great niece Jessica Guertin. She was predeceased by her siblings: Roy Thompson and Helen Spencer.
Funeral Service will be private. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made in her memory to The Northeast Homemakers, P.O Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 Arrangements by Smith & Walker Funeral Home, Putnam.
