Obituary of William Otto Achtermeier
William Otto Achtermeier, age 63 of Putnam, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at his home. Husband of Bonnie (Brundrett) Achtermeier. Born December 12, 1941, in Chicago, Ill, son of the late Wilhelm and Anna Achtermeier.
A beloved English teacher at the Putnam High School for over thirty five years and chair of the Department most of his tenure. He had made his home in Putnam for the last 20 years, formerly of Coventry, RI and Chicago. For whose Roman Catholic archdioceses he was ordained in 1965, Bill was active in many environmental causes and he was noted for his active participation in many groups.
He leaves addition to his wife: his son David L. Carter of Putnam; his siblings: Nicholas; Mary Ann; Rose Marie, his mother-in-law: Muriel Brundrett; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be February 6th at 2:00 PM at the Senexet Grange, Route 169, Woodstock, CT. Burial will be in ST Mary Cemetery, Putnam in the Spring. In lieu of flowers donations may made in his memory to the Rhode Island Fish and Game Protective Association, Andrew Dickson, Secretary, RIFGPA, 15 Fry Pond Road, West Greenwich, RI 02817-2136.
