Obituary of Ernest A. Mayotte
Ernest A. Mayotte, age 91, of Wilkinson Street, Putnam, died Wednesday at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the beloved husband of Helen R. (Plante) Mayotte, they were married September 1, 1941 in St Mary Church. He was born October 20, 1913 in Putnam, son of the late Rosario and Alexina (Bousquet) Mayotte.
He was employed at the former Belding Hemingway Co. in Putnam for over fifty years as a foreman. He was a U S Navy veteran of WWII, he participated in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns and was awarded five battle stars and one arrowhead for Normandy beach landing. He was a life member of the Foreign Wars Post #1523, a communicant of St Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam.
In addition to his wife he leaves a son Roger Mayotte and his wife Marlene of Lyme, three granddaughters: Ann Marie Gustavson of Putnam, Carrie Boyles of Mellenville, NY, Beth Ganiere of Norwichtown, seven great grandchildren, Abe Gustavson, Ben Gustavson, Mark Boyles, Keith Boyles, Gabrielle Ganiere, Celine Ganiere, Holden Ganiere, several nieces and nephews, He was predeceased by a daughter Theresa (Mayotte) Wheaton in 1997.
A calling hour will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, at ST Mary Church of the Visitation 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Burial in the spring in ST Mary Cemetery, Putnam with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to ST Mary Church, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
