Obituary of Joseph B. Vandi

Joseph Vandi, 74, of Putnam died Friday. He was born February 8, 1931 in Putnam, son of the late Aurelio and Louisa (Brumi) Vandi. He was a graduate of the Putnam High School Class of 1950. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U S Army, he was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed for many years at the former Putnam Woolen Corporation working in the Dye House, and later Putnam Hertzl working in the Shipping Department until its closing. After his retirement he worked at Mas Frosty in Putnam until it closed. Joe was an avid reader, loved opera and going to antique shows. He leaves his sister, Wanda V. Robbins of Thompson; a nephew, Michael Vandi of Thompson; a sister-in-law, Mary Vandi. He was predeceased by a brother Mario Vandi. The Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. A Calling Hour will be Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial in ST Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Day Kimball Hospital, Palliative Care, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
