Obituary of Donald Morrison
Donald Morrison, 77, of Putnam, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. He was the husband of Gloria (Couture) Morrison she died January 22, 2003. Born February 10, 1928 in Pawtucket, RI, son of the late Alexander and Jane (Scott) Morrison.
He had made his home in Putnam for the last 57 years. After working for Danielson Curtain Company, he started a cleaning business which he operated for several years. He then started Morrison Unfinished Furniture and flooring in Putnam, operating the company for twenty two years, he sold the business in 2002. He was an avid Red Sox Fan, UCONN Huskies fan, and in his youth he was an outstanding high school athlete.
He leaves two sons: John Morrison of Putnam; Donald Morrison and his wife Sue of Putnam; three daughters: Deborah Vaillant and her husband Lucien of Putnam; Nancy Salvas and her husband Danny of Putnam; Carol Phaneuf and her husband Raymond of Woodstock; a brother: Kenneth Morrison of Santa Maria, CA; his mother-in-law: Bernadette Couture of Pawtucket, RI, seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter. He was predeceased by a son: Gary Morrison.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 10:30 AM in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Putnam Emergency Medical Service, 191 Church Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
